• REVIEW: CHOLULA is considerated the oldest inhabited city of the americas for its uninterrupted human presence since the last 3,000 years with people from different ethnic origin such as Olmecs, Olmec-Xicalancas, Teotihuacan and Toltec. Cholula was meeting point for pilgrims of the gods of ancient Mexico, as well as the host city of the wind god Quetzalcoatl also known as "plummed serpent" or "snake with feathers". In 1519, Hernan Cortes and his soldiers arrived in Cholula and referred to find a magnificent city occupied by 365 pyramids and temples to honor many other prehispanic gods. The most important pyramid of this Mesoamerican city is the great pyramid of Cholula whose square base is the largest ever built worldwide. Cholula also has examples of colonial architecture and indigenous religious art that distinguish it as the church of Santa Maria Tonanzintla.

Huey Atlixcayotl

• REVIEW: HUEY ATLIXCAYOTL was declared "cultural heritage of Puebla" by the state government in 1996. Each year a delegation representing other States of Mexico is invited to this festival. Huey Atlixcayotl is the second most important ethnic party in the country and one of the most important in Latin America. The Huey Atlixcayotl is a cultural festival of music and dance of Atlixco, which takes place on the last Sunday of September on the hill of San Miguel, where the "Netotiloyan" is located, an ancient ceremonial center whose name in Aztecmeans "hill of the dance". The "Huey Atlixcayotl" means in Aztec language "the great feast of Atlixco" and is celebrated at the feast of San Miguel Arcangel. Atlixcayotl is a festival of mestizo and indigenous peoples, whose objective is to recover the traditions, customs and values that give them identity.

Queen of the Huipil Reina del Huipil

Every October 4th, CUETZALAN native people elect a young woman as their "Queen of Huipil", celebrating the traditional female garment worn, called "Huipil", by women at their annual festival to Saint Francis of Assisi. Some young women from Cuetzalan area, which is home to 168 communities, compete for the title, parading before the judges, wearing large and intricate wool headgear, carrying a tassel in their hands, sporting regional dresses and barefoot. Participating in the Huipil contest, women must be 15 to 20 years old, proficient in both Nahuatl and Spanish, and demonstrate a passion for tradition with a speech in both languages about their communities before the judges and public in Cuetzalan’s main square. The panel authority figures (named “Tatiaxkas”), from the native communities and individuals with knowledge about the region’s culture, vote by dropping a tassel in a box of the same color as the one their candidate carries. After all the judges have voted, the box is opened, the sashes are tossed into the air and the colors are tallied. Therefore a new "Queen of the Hipil" is elected in a democratic way.

• RESEÑA: Cada 4 de octubre, los indígenas de CUETZALAN eligen a una joven como su "Reina del Huipil", que celebra la tradicional prenda femenina , llamada "Huipil", que las mujeres usan en su festival anual a San Francisco de Asís. Algunas jóvenes del área en torno a Cuetzalan, que alberga a 168 comunidades, compiten por el título, desfilan ante los jueces, visten tocados de lana grande e intrincada, llevan una cinta en sus manos, lucen vestidos regionales y llevan los pies descalzos. Al participar en el concurso de Huipil, las mujeres deben tener entre 15 y 20 años, tener dominio tanto del náhuatl como del español, y demostrar pasión por la tradición con un discurso en ambos idiomas sobre sus comunidades ante los jueces y el público en la plaza principal de Cuetzalan. Las figuras de autoridad del panel (llamadas "Tatiaxkas"), de las comunidades nativas e individuos con conocimiento sobre la cultura de la región, votan colocando una cinta en una caja del mismo color que la que lleva su candidata. Después de que todos los jueces hayan votado, la caja se abre, las cintas se lanzan al aire y se contabilizan los colores. Por lo tanto, una nueva "Reina del Hipil" es elegida de manera democrática.

• REVIEW: ZACATLAN de las Manzanas (apples) is a city located in the Northen Sierra of Puebla. The area is known for its production of apples, berries, cider and fruit wines, whose products are promoted annually at local fairs such as “Fair of Apple” and “ Fair of Cider”. Zacatlan is also homeplace to the "Relojes Centenario" company (started in 1918), the first monumental clock factory in Latin America and provider of the city main square’s monumental double-sided flower clock. Zacatlán's historic center of is filled with traditional houses with red tile roofs. There are bakeries or street vendors offering cheese bread and apple pie. Other town highlights are Parish church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul (1670-1740) in native barroque style and its chapel of Guadalupe with a beautiful carved wooded decoration, Franciscan Ex-convent basilica plant church (1562-1567) that is the oldest in Puebla State, "Relojes Centenario" monumental clock factory's museum, tiled murals at city cementery and its canyon walk. At the sourroudings, there is a significant indigenous population, woods, waterfalls, ravines and rock formations such as "Piedras Encimadas". This day tour includes a visit to CHIGNAHUAPAN.

Otros puntos destacados de la ciudad son la iglesia parroquial de San Pedro y San Pablo (1670-1740) en estilo barroco indígena y su capilla de Guadalupe con una hermosa decoración boscosa tallada, la iglesia basílica franciscana del ex convento (1562-1567) que es la más antigua de Estado de Puebla, museo de la fábrica de relojes monumentales "Relojes Centenario", murales de azulejos del cementerio de la ciudad y su paseo por el cañón.
